My Dream

Life is all about what you believe, and believing is about being certain without a doubt.  One of the greatest challenges man faces is believing in himself.  The BCE fashion line is about thinking highly of yourself/having high self assurance.  I was asked the questions "What good am I aiming to affect in my world? and What lasting difference do I want to make?"  I responded by simply saying...
  • I envision a society where everyone achieves whatever it is they are progressing towards in their lives, but in order to realize such achievement, one has to first be proud of who they are, where they come from, and certain of where they are headed.
When people wear the BCE brand, they feel like the kings and queens of all that they survey.  This is why BCE is an acronym for Bold, Confident, & Excellent.  When you observe any leader/great person these three characteristics are always present.

It is only through thinking highly of yourself that you achieve greatness because low thoughts yield low results.

The Versatility of My Style

I'm sure many of you can relate to me when I say, I absolutely love how clothing makes me feel when coordinated properly. Sometimes I feel hood rich like the Cash Money Millionaires, and there are times when I feel like what I call "Seductive Fly" like Usher, but on this past Friday, I styled the BCE line in a way that only two other people I can think of could; those two people being Andre 3000 and Johnny Depp. OMG! It Feels Good to be Fly.™

So, here's what I wore. I took my orange BCE Classic tee tucked it into some blue and white seersucker pants, strapped some blue suspenders over my shoulder, tied a white pocket square around my neck, tinted my optical sense in some brown aviator shades, and strutted through the city streets of the A with some cognac colored loafers on my feet. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of this very Bold, Confident, Excellent, and not to mention suave ensemble, but a photo shoot featuring it is definitely in the works. This ensemble was so fly, that a few ladies in the venue with a sixth sense for a brother with a creative and daring style made it a point to let me know that not many guys can pull this off, but I definitely did; a wink and thank you to each of them.

As you can see, this is why BCE proudly boasts the mantra that reads:
If you possess PRIDE for who you are, a STYLE unique to none other, and a SWAGGER so admirable it needs a bodyguard...you are a BCE man...you are BCE woman. Bold, Confident, & Excellent

This post is in no way an attempt to boast or brag, instead it is to highlight the versatility of the BCE brand, and the fact that while some only see t-shirts comprising this line of fashion right now, there are those with either a unique style or at the least a sense of style who see more than a t-shirt...they see a way to think outside the box and intertwine this distinguished brand with their style.

It takes a special kind of guy and gal to be BCE.

Life Is About Progression...

It is about becoming a better you each and everyday.  It is about making a conscious effort to achieve something greater for yourself.  Are you progressing towards something in your life or are you just bathing in the complacency of where you are?  One should live his or her life in a manner in which he or she arises each day expecting to be a better, more accomplished person than yesterday.  If not, a reevaluation should occur.

Life is about progression.  Envision progression and progression will follow.

About The Owner of BCE

When thinking back on encounters I've had with people (whether I knew them or met them for the first time at that moment), confident, proud, fly, and distinguished are just a few of many adjectives used to describe me. It is qualities such as these, divine guidance, and my versatile style of dressing that led me to create the BCE fashion line.

When asked why I get up and go to work for BCE everyday, I will proudly tell you I love the way clothes make me me feel when coordinated properly, as well as, I express and uplift myself through fashion, and I want consumers of the BCE brand to be able to feel and do the same.

In my world, I envision a society where everyone achieves whatever it is they are progressing towards in their life, but in order to realize such achievement, one has to first be proud of who they are, where they come from, and certain of where they are headed; that is why I designated the first foundational principle of BCE as 'Pride'. My greatest aspiration for consumers of the BCE brand is for them to feel like the kings and queens of all that they survey each time they thread themselves in this distinguished brand.

If you possess PRIDE for who you are, a STYLE unique to none other, and a SWAGGER so admirable it needs a bodyguard...you are a BCE man...you are a BCE woman. Bold, Confident, & Excellent

What BCE means & What it means to be BCE

What does BCE mean? How did you come up with the concept? Why the drum major as your symbol? These were questions that were asked by individuals that encountered my new fashion line. After some very deep and careful thought in redefining what BCE is and represents, I am proud to present to you the new BCE brand.

Like most fashion brands that have some sort of symbol that is the face of the brand and means something to the brand's owner (Ralph Lauren and the polo horse or Marc Ecko and the rhino for instance), we went back to the drawing board to clearly define what the drum major symbol represents, and the following symbolism was derived...

The drum major is the individual in authority
The drum major is in a position of power
The drum major is the leader
The drum major provides direction

As a result of this symbolism, BCE is the first fashion line to represent authority, power, direction, and leadership, and accordingly defined our target audience as what we call the "Progressive Consumer". In current times, and for as long as I can remember whenever I stepped outside of the confines of my home, I've seen a world of "hustle and bustle", a world where individuals are working hard and doing something to progress towards something greater for their lives. I then realized, these very individuals are from a different state, city, town, hood, county, parish, or borough; hence, a progressive individual can be found anywhere even in places where other parts of society believe there is no hope.

Accordingly, I felt what it means to be a "Progressive Consumer" should be defined, and therefore present you with the following,

A progressive consumer is an individual with the goal and intent to improve him
or herself via forward advancement to the next level of his or her life, career, etc.

We all aspire to be a drum major, to achieve that sense of status, to be in a position of authority, power, leadership, and direction. These four things are what the progressive individual aspires to have.

In order to be that drum major, and to progress to the next level of your life you have to be BCE. If you possess PRIDE for who you are, a STYLE unique to none other, and a SWAGGER so admirable it needs a bodyguard...you are a BCE man...you are BCE woman. Bold, Confident, & Excellent.

Life Is a Game and God Is Your Coach

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. This is what I said to myself as the new year came in so rapidly. I write/speak not only to hear myself speak (lol) because I am astonished by most of the things that I say, but I write/speak to empower and impact the lives of the people I love and I care about, as well as the people I don't know but I sincerely want to see them rise to whatever their calling may be.

For many days and nights, I prayed and asked the Lord to give me the desires of my heart, and as all believers in Christ should know, He will give you your hearts desires but on his timing. There's one key to asking for what you want when praying, and that key is once your prayer is answered...you can't drop the ball. I like to compare this to a second-string player in a team sport. You beg and plead coach to put you in the game, but if and when coach puts you in the game...guess what? You have to produce! Because if you don't!...reluctance is what you will experience the next time you beg and plead. In a very similar way, this applies to what you ask God for. When He gives you what you have been believing in and praying to Him for, you have to recognize it as a blessing and be fruitful with the opportunity. Life is a game and God is your coach. Don't fail to produce when your hearts desires are delivered as He promised. You can hope for change, but you have to plan for it as well.

Appreciatively yours from the Owner, Founder, & Designer of BCE...a fashion line for the Bold, Confident, & Excellent.

The Evolution of Fashion

Isn't it ironic and often times hysterical when we see fashion styles from prior decades, with the eyeball of what our optical sense has become accustomed to seeing today, but most of us wore the hell out of those fashions?! Lets think back for a second, the 90's can be remembered for the following:
  • The catsuit
  • Ladies, you can't forget the scrunchie! Some of y'all didn't have enough hair and still made it work!
  • Baby doll dresses and knee-high boots
  • Men wore high collars with 3-button (sometimes more) suit jackets
  • Corduroy pants, capris, cargo pants
The 80's
  • The Miami Vice look with casual t-shirts under suit jackets
  • The tight and short Lycra mini-skirts
  • The Thriller look - leather jackets, sunglasses, and jheri curls
  • Short skirts over leggings
  • Run D.M.C made Adidas popular, and we can't forget the Converse sneaker! Everybody and their grand daddy had a pair.
  • The preppy look

The 70's

  • Wide-legged flare jeans
  • Platform shoes
  • A continuation of mini skirt
  • The disco look
  • Midis and Maxis skirts
  • Hip huggers! Hell yeah!
  • Hot pants
  • Spandex...lol
  • Zippered jumpsuits

Although not discussed here, our owner particularly likes the 1930's fashion which consisted of trends for men such as the zoot suit, knickerbockers, plus-fours, and fedoras.

What was your favorite era in fashion, and what were the particular styles you liked in that era? We can't wait to hear!
